Van Fleet Wins Two; Earns $2,280

ATLANTA (Friday, May 29) - Beth Van Fleet and teammate Saralyn Smith won two matches and claimed 13th place with $2,280 in winnings of the $240,000 AVP Crocs Pro Tour being played at Atlantic Station this weekend.

The pair have now finished 13th and won $2,280 in two of the last three AVP Tour Events after an identical placing at the Houston Open.

Van Fleet and Smith, seeded No. 13, opened Friday morning with a 21-15, 21-14 win as Van Fleet recorded a match-best .563 hitting percentage with 10 kills and 10 digs.  In Match Two, Van Fleet and Smith lost to No. 4 seed Dianne DeNecochea and Carrie Davis as the first match was an exciting 21-19 event before a 21-10 second match. Van Fleet had 11 kills, 4 digs and 2 aces in that match.

As they moved into the Contender's Bracket, Van Fleet and Smith played their third match of the day and won 21-15, 15-21 and 15-7 to advance into Saturday's play. Van Fleet had a solid 18-kill, 14-dig match to help in the win. They bowed out Saturday to a team that had advanced to the final six in Sunday's finish.

Van Fleet, the Georgia State graduate, is in her eighth year on the professional AVP Crocs Tour and has played more than 75 pro matches.
