Marcquitta Head (Conley, Ga.) led Georgia State with 20 points and a team-high seven rebounds as the No. 8 seed Panthers fell to No. 9 seed Drexel 73-62 Thursday afternoon in first round action at the 2007 Aeropostale Colonial Athletic Association Tournament held at the Bob Carpenter Center on the campus of the University of Delaware.

Brittany Hollins (Columbia, S.C.) closes the year with 10 points and five assists.
The Panthers close the season with a six-game losing skid and a 15-15 overall mark. The first round loss also snaps a string of nine consecutive wins to begin a conference tournament. Drexel (10-20) moves on to the quarterfinal round where it will face top-seeded Old Dominion Friday at noon.
“We were obviously disappointed [with the loss], expressed Georgia State head coach
Lea Henry. “However, looking back on the season overall we were a young team and we had a good year. We didn't do a great job of defending Drexel today, but they are a good team with a lot of veterans and an outstanding freshman.”
CAA Rookie of the Year and Drexel freshman Gabriela Marginean led all scorers, totaling a double-double with 28 points and 11 rebounds. Guard Kira Karlstrom registered 13 and guard Narissa Suber added 12.
The Dragons led 33-31 at halftime and extended their lead to 50-44 with 11:30 left in the game. Drexel used to 9-0 run over the next six minutes to push the advantage to 59-44 with 5:33 on the clock.
State could only get as close as nine the rest of the way as the Dragons committed only one turnover in the second frame and shot 48 percent from the floor in the stanza.
Georgia State out rebounded Drexel 31-29 and completed the contest shooting 47 percent from the floor.
