Key CAA Women's Matchup on Tap Sunday

ATLANTA (Jan. 6, 2007) – The reigning Colonial Athletic Association players of the week are on hand Sunday when senior guard Kelcey Roegiers-Jensen (St. Petersburg, Fla.) and the Georgia State Panthers host junior guard/forward Tamera Young and the James Madison Dukes at 2 p.m. at the Ga. Both teams are on tremendous streaks heading into Sunday's showdown. Georgia State (9-4, 1-1 CAA) has won six consecutive games and nine of its last 10, while James Madison (10-2, 2-0 CAA) has been victorious in eight of its past nine. The Panthers aim to keep their 5-0 undefeated home streak intact as well.

Sunday's game will be broadcast live over the Internet at www.wras.org and www.georgiastatesports.com and on the radio at WRAS-FM (88.5) in Atlanta. Fans can also catch live Web streaming and audio of the game using the Panthers Insider link at GeorgiaStateSports.com.

James Madison and Georgia State met for the first time last season with the Dukes claiming a 79-54 win at JMU on Feb. 26, 2006. The Panthers want to even the series, but it will be a tough task, as the Dukes enter the contest ranked 28th nationally in the latest RPI index released Dec. 31, 2006, and were predicted to finish second in the 2006-07 CAA preseason media and coaches' poll.

Roegiers-Jensen paces State's offense, averaging 14.0 points per game. She is third in rebounding at 6.2 boards per contest and leads the team and the CAA in assists with 6.7 per outing. Freshman forward Danyiell McKeller (Fayetteville, N.C.) is second on the team in scoring and rebounding at 12.0 ppg and 7.4 rpg. Another freshman, guard Tabitha David (Mableton, Ga.), is also averaging in double figures, totaling 11.7 per contest. She is the team's top 3-point threat, connecting at 44 percent from beyond the arc, and leads State with 30 treys.

Sophomore center Marcquitta Head (Conley, Ga.) is Georgia State's top rebounder, collecting 8.9 boards per game; she scores 10.8 points per contest. Guard Brittany Hollins (Columbia, S.C.), is also playing well, holding season averages of 10.4 points, 3.8 rebounds 5.4 assists and 3.5 steals per game.

James Madison head coach Kenny Brooks played for former Georgia State men's head coach Charles “Lefty” Driesell from 1988-91 when Driesell was the head coach at James Madison. Brooks was also a part-time assistant coach on Lefty's 1993-94 Dukes' team that advanced to the NCAA Tournament.

JMU's Young, who ranks in the top five in scoring and rebounding among the CAA statistical leaders, receives help in the front court from senior forward Meredith Alexis, who leads the CAA in scoring (19.5 ppg) and rebounding (12.3 rpg, 4th in the nation).
