Women Travel To Wilmington Thursday

The women's basketball team heads to Wilmington, N.C. for a Thursday game with some momentum and incentives.

Georgia State, now 10-6 overall, has won 7 of its last 9 games with all five starters aveaging in double figures.

The Panthers, whose 10 wins already top last year's 9 total in the inaugural year in the CAA, have a chance to post back-to-back CAA wins for the first time. The Panthers can have some confidence in remembering they won last year at UNC Wilmington.

At 2-3 in the CAA, State is in 6th place and one of 6 CAA teams to already have 10 wins by the midway point of the season. Georgia State is also 3-5 on the road this year to equal last year's final total of 3 road wins.

But winning is something Coach Lea Henry and the Panthers are used to. The veteran coach had a string of 8 consecutive winning seasons interrupted last year and has averaged better than 18 wins a season in this span. Coach Henry had 4 straight 20-win seasons at State with 3 straight NCAA appearances as she has always expected success since being a star at Tennessee and an Olympic gold medal winner.

State's ony senior, Kelcey Roegiers-Jensen, has taken the leadership role as she ranks in the top 10 in the nation in assists (107) and leads the team in scoring with a 15.1 per game average. This year's recruiting class is already playing and looks to be one of the best ever in Panthers history.

Tip time on Thursday is 7 p.m. on WRAS-FM radio.
