NORFOLK, Va. (Jan. 12, 2007) ? Georgia State travels to George Mason Sunday, seeking to snap a two-game slide. Tip-off is slated for 2 p.m. Sunday's game will be broadcast live over the Internet at www.wras.org and on the radio at WRAS-FM (88.5) in Atlanta.
The contest is the second of three road games for the Panthers (9-6) who have won nine of their last 11. George Mason (7-7) has dropped three of its last four. The game has significant meaning for both teams as the Panthers and the Patriots are each 1-3 in the Colonial Athletic Association.
Mason, which leads the season series 1-0, having topped State 83-70 in the first meeting last year, is 2-4 at home this season and has yet to win at the Patriot Center in conference play (0-2). Georgia State is looking for its first conference road win (0-2).
Senior guard Kelcey Roegiers-Jensen paces State's offense, averaging 15.1 points per game. She is third in rebounding at 6.0 boards per contest and leads the team and the CAA in assists with 6.6 per outing. Freshman forward Danyiell McKeller (Fayetteville, N.C.) is second on the team in scoring and rebounding at 11.3 ppg and 7.1 rpg. Another freshman, guard Tabitha David (Mableton, Ga.), is also averaging in double figures, totaling 10.7 per contest. She is the team's top 3-point threat, connecting at 43 percent from beyond the arc, and leads State with 32 treys.
Sophomore center Marcquitta Head (Conley, Ga.) is Georgia State's top rebounder, collecting 8.6 boards per game; she scores 10.4 points per contest. Guard Brittany Hollins (Columbia, S.C.), is also playing well, holding season averages of 10.3 points, 3.6 rebounds 5.1 assists and 3.5 steals per game.
Guard Lateisha Wade paces the Patriot offense, averaging 12.9 points per game. Forward Moni Akintude, who has posted consecutive double-doubles, is Mason's best rebounder, totaling 6.6 boards per outing. She is second in scoring at 10.8 points per contest.
