Panthers Downed in Delaware

A worn-down team thanks to a grueling five-game match the night before, the Georgia State volleyball team could not complete a 15 hour turnaround with a victory Saturday afternoon, falling to Delaware 3-1 (30-27, 30-23, 27-30, 30-25).

Serving proved to be the key difference for the Blue Hens on this day, as Delaware racked up 17 service aces against the Panthers.  Georgia State managed just two for the match.

Junior Amy Lusk had yet another double-double with 22 kills and 14 digs.  Junior Jordan Thomas also chipped in 14 digs along the back row, while senior libero Christen Garcia had 17 to lead the Panthers.  State had more digs (75-70) and kills (61-54) than Delaware, but Delaware had three more blocks (10-7) and the sharp advantage in aces.

The loss put the Panthers below .500 in CAA play at 3-4.  State will try to right the ship in non-conference play this Tuesday when they host UAB in the first home match for the Panthers since September 10.  Match time is set for 7:00 p.m.
