Women's Basketball Plays First Home Game

ATLANTA – Playing in its final game of November, but first at home, Georgia State will be looking to even its record at 3-all when the Panthers host Samford Tuesday evening at 6 p.m. at the Ga. State Sports Arena. State recently completed a historic five-game road swing to begin 2006-07 and is hoping to post at least a .500 mark for the month for the first time since 2003-04.

Tuesday's contest also features head coach Lea Henry as she marches to win No. 200 at Georgia State. She is currently holding on at 197 victories following wins over Norfolk State and Jacksonville State last week.

The Panthers will also be gunning for their first 3-game win streak since mid-December of 2005. State faces a Samford squad that is 4-1 overall after winning four consecutive contests. The Bulldogs are 3-1 so far on the road and at neutral venues.

Freshman forward Danyiell McKeller (Fayetteville, N.C.) paces State's offense, averaging 17 points per game. She is also tied for the team lead in rebounding at 7.4 boards per contest. Senior guard Kelcey Roegiers-Jensen (St. Petersburg, Fla.) averages 14.0 ppg and 5.2 rebounds per outing while leading the team in assists (28). Freshman forward RaShay Rawls (Augusta, Ga.) is tied with McKeller for the rebounding lead at 7.4 rpg. She also averages 5.4 ppg. Freshman guard Tabitha David (Mableton, Ga.) is also averaging double figures in points (11.3 ppg), while shooting 53 perent from 3-point range.

Prior to the start of Tuesday's game against Samford, Georgia State will honor former Panther Patechia Hartman with a service to recognize her achievements as a Panther and honor Vatai Smith for setting the school single-season blocked shots record in 2005-06.

The game will be broadcast live over the internet at www.wras.org and on WRAS-FM (88.5) in Atlanta.
