A twin, Briana Renee’ was born on June 22, 1992 in a small town of West Point, just outside of Columbus, Miss.
Fraternal twin
sister, Brandi, who is seven minutes older, also played basketball at
Erwin…Sister is serving as student manager for the GSU basketball team
so they could stay together...Older brother, Desi (21) and younger
sister, LaCressia (16)...Desi is currently serving in the Navy.
Mother passed
away when Briana and Brandi were 11…Aunt moved in to take care of the
family for the next three years…In 2006, Briana and Brandi moved in
with great aunt Linda Joiner in Birmingham and began school at
Erwin…Basketball coach Haynes became a surrogate father and volleyball
coach and assistant basketball coach Dionne Williams helped with more
female guidance for the pair...Principal Van
Phillips was high on praise for the pair of twins: “They are two of the
most overachieving student-athletes I have probably ever come in
contact with in my 26 years,” he said. “These girls had every
opportunity to play the blame game, but they chose not to.”
National Honor
Society student…English Honor Society member…Favorite subject in high
school was math...Majoring in social work at Georgia State.
