Prep Career:

With his 6’ 7” size, Turner has been able to play the 3, 4 and 5 positions during his high school career. He was a solid rebounder who also produced some high-scoring games for a winning team.

In Salisbury, N.C., Turner averaged 14 points, eight rebound, five assists and two blocks a game for West Rowan High School. The 19-6 Falcons of Coach Mike Gurley advanced to the second round of the sectional tournament.

One of his top senior games was a 28-point offensive night. Other impressive games for him were a 13-rebound effort and a six-blocked shot night. One special moment was making a game-winning three-point basket from the corner to win a game.

In his junior season, Turner averaged 11.5 points a game with a best of 19 points on a 15-11 team that topped 100 points against rival Lake Norman. Wesley was a three-year starter at West Rowan. During his freshman season as a reserve, West Rowan won the state championship.

With his size, Turner also developed his skills as a dunker and won the Salisbury city YMCA dunking championships the past two years.

Recruiting interest came from colleges like Ball State of the MAC, Eastern Michigan of the MAC, Indiana Wesleyan, and North Carolina schools Pfeiffer, and Lenoir-Rhyne.

Wesley was also active with AAU teams throughout his high school career. He played for the Newton Flames and the Salisbury Kings and traveled to play in tournaments in places like Indiana, Orlando, Greensboro, and Charleston. He enjoyed a 20-point AAU game against the Greensboro Gators. His coaches Steve Burger and Omar Robertson helped develop his overall game.
