2007-08:
Played in 22 games off the bench . . . Averaged 1.2 points and 0.8 rebounds . . . Hit an important three-point basket in State’s win at Jacksonville . . . Also hit three-pointers against Drexel (1/16) and Towson (1/23) . . . Had two points and three rebounds in win over Drexel (1/30).
Scored seven points on 3-for-4 shooting against Elon with two rebounds and a steal in 18 minutes . . . Played nine minutes in the opener against UAB with one rebound and one assist
2006-07:
Played in 28 of 31 games as a freshman, including seven starts . . . Averaged 2.2 points and 1.0 rebounds . . . Made 13 of 16 free throws (81 percent).
Had one double-figure scoring game when he hit for 10 points with three three-point baskets vs. James Madison . . . Scored eight points in win at Delaware and six points vs. Drexel and at VCU . . . Top rebounding game of seven boards was against William & Mary, a game in which he also had a personal-best four assists.
Made his first career start and logged 33 minutes in double-overtime win over Towson . . . Added 32 minutes in the win at Delaware and 26 minutes vs. James Madison.
First college basket was a three-pointer against Georgia Tech . . . Made two critical free throws with eight seconds left and the team holding a two-point lead vs. Northeastern, helping the Panthers to a 71-65 victory.
HIGH SCHOOL:
Earned second-team all-state honors as a senior, following honorable mention recognition as a junior . . . Played for coach Ron Sigler at Midfield High in Midfield, Ala., near Birmingham . . . Also an all-Metro selection in the Birmingham area . . . Most Valuable Player of the regional tournament.
Averaged 17 points, seven rebounds, five assists and four steals pre game . . . One of his top performances as a senior was a 27-point, eight-rebound effort as led Midfield into the final 16 of state tournament . . . Played AAU basketball for the Birmingham Raptors and the Little Eagles . . . Also played baseball at Midfield.

Norman Leon Mitchell, Jr. was born October 22, 1987 . . . Son of Bonita and Norman Mitchell, both deputy sheriffs in Jefferson County, Ala. . . . His father is 6-6 and his mother stands 6-1 and was a high school volleyball player . . . Younger sister, Meredith, is 17 and an all-state basketball player at Midfield High.
