Isaiah Campbell

Isaiah Campbell

Coach Lanier on Isaiah: "Over my 30 years in the profession I’ve seen some excellent Graduate Assistants become highly successful once they’ve moved on. Isaiah will be another one of those individuals. His work ethic, his selflessness and humility make him special. His approach and his character will translate to anything he wants to do beyond his time with us. I knew when I accepted this job that I wanted Isaiah to be here with me and he has been every bit as valuable as I had expected and more."

A native of Knoxville, Tenn., Isaiah Campbell is a graduate of the University of Tennessee where he also began his coaching career. Campbell played four years at Bearden High School, graduating in 2014, before earning a basketball scholarship and playing two years at Bryan College in Dayton, Tenn., before transferring to UT.

Campbell spent two seasons from 2017-2019 season working as a student-assistant at Tennessee alongside head coach Rick Barnes. During his tenure with the program, the Volunteers won the SEC Championship in the 2017-2018. In 2018-2019, Tennessee reached the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament and was ranked No. 1 in the country for multiple weeks throughout the regular season, as well as topped No. 1-ranked Gonzaga.

Campbell’s role at Tennessee included player development workouts assisting future professional players: Boston Celtics forward Grant Williams, Miami Heat center Kyle Alexander, Washington Wizards forward Admiral Schofield, and Detroit Pistons guard Jordan Bone.

Following his two seasons at Tennessee, coach Rob Lanier requested that Campbell join his staff at Georgia State. Taking the next step in his career has consisted of developing a knowledge of the video equipment and scouting. He has also continued his work with player development upon his arrival at Georgia State.

Campbell received his degree in Communications in May 2019 from the University of Tennessee (Knoxville).
