AT GEORGIA STATE: Two-year starter at inside linebacker and two-year team captain ... Finished eighth in GSU history with 186 career tackles, including 11.5 tackles for loss ... Earned his undergraduate degree in 2018 and completed his Master’s in Education, Literacy Education in the fall of 2019.
               
2019: Team’s second-leading tackler with 47 and a team-leading 5.5 tackles for loss, including three sacks, through seven games but suffered a season-ending knee injury vs. Army ... Had eight tackles, a sack and a fumble recovery at the UT 23-yard line to set up a touchdown in historic win at Tennessee. Helped hold the Vols to just 93 yards rushing ... Tied his career high with 11 tackles at Texas State, including a sack ... Made five tackles and a sack in win over Arkansas State ... Led the Panthers with 10 tackles with a TFL and a pass breakup in win at Coastal Carolina as GSU held CCU to 105 yards rushing.
               
2018: Starting linebacker and a 2018 team captain ... Team’s leading tackler with 81 ... Career-high 11 tackles at NC State, which he equaled at Troy ... Added 10 tackles with a tackle for loss at Louisiana ... Had five tackles and a sack at Arkansas State ... Eight tackles and a fumble recovery vs. Coastal Carolina.
               
2017: Shared time at inside linebacker with Trey Payne, starting five games and playing in 10 ... Made 41 tackles on the season with 1.5 tackles for loss ... In his first start at Coastal Carolina he had five tackles with a TFL in the GSU win ... Career-high 10 tackles in victory at ULM ... Sat out the 2016 season with a shoulder injury that required surgery.
               
2015: Made 17 tackles as the backup to senior all-conference linebacker Joseph Peterson ... Also played on several special teams units and recovered a fumbled kickoff to set up a touchdown at Oregon ... Career-high six tackles in win at Ball State ... Started the UL Lafayette game when Peterson was injured and made four tackles ... Slowed by a foot injury over the final five games ... Originally signed with Georgia State in 2014 but delayed his enrollment until January 2015 due to an injury.
               
HIGH SCHOOL: Earned preseason first-team all-state recognition entering his senior season (2013) ... Played for coach Darren Myles at the New Schools at Carver as a senior, after transferring from Creekside High School ... All-area selection by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution as a junior ... Helped Carver earn a berth in the state playoffs in Class AAAA in 2013 ... Chosen for the 2012 Rising Seniors all-star game following his junior season.
               
PERSONAL: Edward Curney III was born Nov. 7, 1995 ... Parents are Traci and Ed Curney Jr. ... Earned his degree in interdisciplinary studies in 2018 and is now in graduate school ... Pursuing a master’s in education with hopes of becoming a high school athletic director.
