He joined the GSU staff in 2019 after eight seasons working with the football team at Georgia Tech.

Turner joined Vanderbilt’s staff as an assistant speed, strength and conditioning coach from 2003-10. During that time, he assisted in all facets of player development for football training programs. He was also responsible for the complete design and implementation of the yearly training program for Vanderbilt’s men’s and women’s golf, as well as tennis programs.

In 2010, he was promoted to director of strength and conditioning for men’s basketball, a role he held until he departed for Georgia Tech in May 2013.

Turner has trained or assisted in the training of nearly 50 current or former professional athletes, 15 All-Americans and more than 60 all-conference selections. An active speaker, coach and consultant, his programs have been featured in Men’s Health and Golf Digest magazines and on Yahoo! Sports and ESPNU All-Access.

He is certified by the College Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCA). In May 2018, he was named a Master Strength and Conditioning Coach by the CSCCA. He was one of only 18 individuals to earn the distinction — the strength-and-conditioning profession’s highest honor — in 2018.

Turner graduated from Clemson in 2003 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology and sociology education. He is a native of Blairsville, Ga., and the son of Robert and Teresa Turner.
