Earned the Top Gun pitcher award at South Florida Community College after compiling an 8-4 record during his freshman season with 91 strikeouts and a 4.13 ERA...Received the award again in his sophomore season, going 5-4 with a 4.64 ERA.

During his senior year at Sebring High School, batted .389 with five home runs and 48 RBI's, while also compiling a 12-1 record on the mound with 117 strikeouts and a 1.98 ERA...Earned Heartland Player of the Year honors and team MVP honors during his senior year, earning all-state second team honors as well...Earned the best pitcher award in 2005 and 2006 for the Blue Streaks, while earning team MVP honors in 2006 and 2007...During his senior season, led his team to the state semifinals with a 26-5 record...Earned four varsity letters in baseball, as well as a pair of letters in football.
