Sandro Rabarivony Earns Sun Belt Player of the Week Honors

ATLANTA – Georgia State defender Sandro Rabarivony has been named Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.

Rabarivony played a vital role in Georgia State's dominant week, helping the Panthers secure back-to-back road wins against Lipscomb and Presbyterian.

Against Lipscomb on Sept. 2, Rabarivony played all 90 minutes helping Georgia State rally back from a 0-2 deficit. Rabarivony found the back of the net in the 76th minute to tie the match for the Panthers, he would go on to score again in the 80th minute to finalize the score for GSU.

Three days later against Presbyterian, Rabarivony again made an impact defensively as Georgia State cruised to a 3-0 shutout. He played 70 minutes, contributing one assist and helping the Panthers hold Presbyterian to just three shots on goal and secure their second clean sheet of the season.

Rabarivony ranks amongst the top ten in the Sun Belt in shots on goal per game and total goals.

This is the first time he has been named Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Week in his career.
