GSU SOCCER COMPLEX -- Georgia State secured a 2-1 win over Georgia Southern Thursday at home at GSU Soccer Complex.
Georgia State improved to 6-3-1 overall and 1-1-0 in Sun Belt play after the victory.
How it Happened
Georgia State took a 1-0 lead when Himari Sato scored her first goal of the season in the 30th minute, assisted by Brielle Delgado.
The Panthers went into halftime up 1-0, thanks to five saves from goalkeeper Alondra Iriarte.
Georgia State tacked on another score on a goal from Aaliyah Faddoul -- her seventh goal of the season -- in the 50th minute.
The score would hold until the 85th minute, when Georgia Southern found the back of the net off a kick from Caitlin Conroy.
The Panthers would hold on for the remaining five minutes and improve to 5-0-0 at home on the season.
Georgia State travels to Mobile, Ala. to take on South Alabama on Sunday, Sep. 27 at 2 p.m. ET.
