Georgia State Drops First Conference Match to West Virginia

MORGANTOWN, W. Va. -- Georgia State fell 1-0 to West Virginia in their first conference match of the 2026 season on Thursday night at Dick Dlesk Soccer Stadium.
 
GSU dropped to 5-2-1 overall and 0-1-0 in SBC play following the loss.
 

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Panthers kept West Virginia off the scoreboard in the first half before giving up the lone goal after the break in the loss. Jackson Burrell led the team with five saves.
 
Georgia State totaled one shot in the match while facing 10 West Virginia shots, six of them on goal.
 

GAME NOTES
 

  • Burrell piled up five saves for the Panthers out of 10 total Mountaineers shots.
