Caruso Claims Sun Belt Pitcher of the Week

ATLANTA – Georgia State right-handed pitcher Michael Caruso has been named Sun Belt Pitcher of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday.

Caruso earned the honor after being instrumental in Georgia State's series win over Arkansas State, earning both victories in the Panthers series win over the Red Wolves. Caruso finished the week with a 2-0 record, tossing 7.1 innings while allowing just two hits and no runs with seven strikeouts and one walk.

In his first outing of the week, he went one inning, striking out two and not allowing a run in the Panthers 8-2 victory over West Georgia. In the 5-2 series-opening win over Arkansas State, Caruso earned his first win of the week with 2.0 shutout innings out of the bullpen. He finished the week with another win in the 9-5 series-clinching victory, throwing 4.1 innings in relief and allowing just one hit while striking out five and not allowing a run. Caruso did not allow a run across his three outings this week, helping Georgia State secure a 3-1 week.

Caruso is the first Panther to earn Sun Belt Pitcher of the Week since Ryan Watson on May 16, 2023.

The Panthers return to action today (March 24), hosting Alabama State at 6:00.
