Panthers Out-Hit Marshall in 3-1 Loss

ATLANTA — The Georgia State Panthers (18-10, 1-1 SBC) collected eight hits, but could not capitalize offensively, falling to the Marshall Thundering Herd (18-9, 1-1 SBC) 3-1 on Saturday afternoon at the Bob Heck Softball Complex.

Briana Bower tossed a complete game for Georgia State, allowing five hits and three unearned runs across seven innings, while walking one and striking out two.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Marshall scored all three of its runs in the second inning after capitalizing on a Georgia State throwing error that allowed runners on the corners. The Herd then connected on a three-run home run, with all three runs ruled unearned.

Georgia State answered in the fourth inning. With two outs, Ciarra Jefferson laced an RBI double to left-center, driving in Payton O'Connor to cut the deficit to 3-1.

The Panthers threatened with traffic on the bases throughout the game, but were unable to push across another run, falling 3-1 to the Herd.
