ATLANTA — The Georgia State Panthers (18-11, 1-2 SBC) dropped the series finale 7-1 to the Marshall Thundering Herd (19-9, 2-1 SBC) Sunday afternoon at Bob Heck Softball Complex.
McKenzie Walker led the Panthers at the plate, going 1-for-3 with the lone RBI.
In the circle, Makayla Stephens made the start for Georgia State and took the loss after tossing a complete seven innings with seven strikeouts.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Marshall broke the scoreless tie in the fourth inning with a solo home run to take a 1-0 lead, then added another solo shot in the fifth to extend the advantage to 2-0.
Georgia State answered in the bottom half of the fifth. Ciarra Jefferson reached and later scored on an RBI single up the middle from Walker, cutting the deficit to 2-1.
The Thundering Herd responded with a sacrifice fly in the sixth to push the lead to 3-1 before pulling away in the seventh with four runs sealing the 7-1 final.
