MONTGOMERY, AL – Georgia State Men's Tennis battled back late but could not overcome the Hornets of Alabama State on Thursday afternoon, as the Panthers fell by a final score of 4-3.
After falling on all three doubles courts, Georgia State began singles play trailing 1-0.
Gustav Andersson pushed his opponent on court number six to a seventh point twice, and
Arthur Attrill forced a decisive third set with a set win on court two, but neither player could secure a point, extending the deficit to 3-0.
Gabriele Datei was first to contribute to the comeback effort, outlasting his opponent on the top line with a 6-1 win in the decisive third set.
Cem Atlamis added a point on line three, coming all the way back to win in three sets after dropping the first. After trailing 3-0 early, the Panthers were brought all the way back to even, with the tying point coming from
Aleksandar Andrin on court four. His straight set victory turned court five into the deciding point.
In the winner-take-all battle on court five, it was Alabama State defending their home court and securing the overall victory, 4-3.
