ATLANTA --Malachi Brown scored a career-high 26 points, but the Georgia State men's basketball team ultimately fell to the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers 76-71 at home Tuesday.
Brown added eight rebounds and six assists to his 26 point game to lead the Panthers (10-20, 7-10). Jelani Hamilton helped out with 14 points, six rebounds and two steals and Anthony Enoh chipped in with nine points and two blocks coming off the bench.
The Georgia State defense held Coastal Carolina shooters to just 39.7 percent from the field.
How It Happened
After falling behind 15-12, Georgia State went on a 6-0 run with 9:45 left in the first half, culminating in a bucket from Christopher Jones, to take an 18-15 lead. The Panthers then surrendered that lead and entered halftime down 30-28.
Coastal Carolina kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing a 48-39 advantage before Georgia State went on a 9-0 run to even the score at 48 all with 12:01 to go in the contest. The Panthers could not turn their rally into a victory, as the Chanticleers outscored them 28-23 the rest of the way to hand Georgia State the 76-71 loss.
