Sandy Panthers Finish 4-1 at FSU Unconquered Following Saturday Wins Over Southeastern Louisiana, CSU Bakersfield

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.-- The Georgia State beach volleyball team closed opening weekend competition at the FSU Unconquered with a 4-1 overall record, earning two victories on Saturday over Southeastern Louisiana and California State Bakersfield. 

Georgia State opened the tournament with a sweep of North Alabama before falling to host Florida State and rebounding with a narrow 3-2 win over UAB on day one. The Sandy Panthers carried that momentum into Saturday, securing a 5-0 victory over Southeastern Louisiana and a 3-2 dual win against CSU Bakersfield to conclude the weekend.

Georgia State opened Saturday with a 5-0 sweep over Southeastern Louisiana 

On court one, Savannah Ebarb and Bella Troncale earned a straight-set victory over Gabriella Hrubanova and Maggie Pavia, 21-16, 21-18. At the No. 2 position, Ellie Neville and Michaela Jefferson dropped the opening set 11-21 before rallying to defeat Mia McKinney and Mia Sauers in three sets, 25-23 and 15-8.

Ella Mozeleski and Kaylie Drysdale secured a 21-12, 21-8 win on court three against Makayla Hicks and Cadie Kusy. On court four, Kealy Dinner and Kaebre Sullivan defeated Elizabeth Hardouin and Genevieve Schubert in straight sets, 21-14, 21-19.

Kate Phelan and Noalani Nuez completed the sweep on court five, falling in the first set 15-21 before winning the final two sets 21-19 and 15-8 over Carley Petty and Emmaleigh Vincent.


GSU-3 | Cal Bakersfield-2

Georgia State closed the tournament with a 3-2 victory over California State Bakersfield.

Savannah Ebarb and Bella Troncale opened the dual with a 21-17, 21-11 win over Erika Markentin and Oliv Silacci-Jensen on court one. Ellie Neville and Michaela Jefferson followed with a 21-18, 21-16 victory against Sophia Anderson and Olivia Ostler at the No. 2 spot.

On court three, Ella Mozeleski and Kaylie Drysdale were defeated by Kendall Kaelin and Vivi Kaelin, 21-10, 21-17. Kealy Dinner and Kaebre Sullivan pushed court four to three sets but fell to Ella Ensign and Katey Milne, 21-17, 19-21, 17-15.

The deciding point came on court five, where Kate Phelan and Noalani Nuez secured the match with a 21-13, 21-17 win over Vianna Garcia and Emma Neville.

The Sandy Panthers are back in action at the Cactus Classic, hosted by Arizona State, on Feb. 27-28.
