ATLANTA — Senior right side hitter Akira Burt earns Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week honors, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon.

Burt powered Georgia State through a two-match weekend at Southern Miss, totaling 39 kills, 42.0 points, 19 digs and six blocks while hitting .257 and averaging 4.88 kills per set.

She opened the weekend with a double-double, leading the Panthers with a match-high 20 kills on .313 hitting and adding 10 digs in a 3-1 victory. Her 20 kills led a 59-kill team effort that ties for ninth on the Sun Belt's single-match list for kills in a four-set match.

Burt closed the week with 19 kills in Friday's match, tying for the match high. She recorded 11 kills on .455 hitting in the opening set and finished one dig shy of a second double-double with nine. She added three block assists in each match and posted 21.5 and 20.5 points, respectively.

Burt ranks third in the Sun Belt in kills per set (3.83) and third in points per set (4.42). She sits 14th in the NCAA with 318 total points and 15th with 276 total kills, placing second in the conference in both categories.

Georgia State returns to the GSU Sports Arena this weekend to host Old Dominion for a two-match series. The Panthers open the weekend on Friday with a Pink Out match at 6 p.m. before closing out the series with Greek Day on Saturday at 2 p.m.
