CONWAY, SC — The Georgia State Panthers delivered one of the most prolific offensive performances in program history on Saturday afternoon, defeating Coastal Carolina Chanticleers 89–71 at the HTC Center.
Georgia State poured in 64 second-half points, the seventh-most points scored in a half in school history, flipping a nine-point halftime deficit into a decisive Sun Belt road victory. The Panthers shot an incredible 76.0% from the field and 93.3% from three-point range in the second half, overwhelming Coastal Carolina down the stretch.
The Panthers finished the game 17-for-30 from beyond the arc, tying for the third-most made three-pointers in a game in program history, while also shooting a perfect 14-for-14 at the free-throw line, tying the best single-game free-throw percentage in school history.
Georgia State caught fire from long range midway through the second half, knocking down 11 consecutive three-pointers, falling just three shy of the NCAA record of 14 straight made threes.
Malachi Brown led the Panthers with a season-high 23 points, shooting 5-of-9 from three-point range. Jelani Hamilton followed with 22 points, four three-pointers, and three steals, while Trey Scott III added 22 points off the bench, going a perfect 4-for-4 from deep and 4-for-4 at the line. Micah Tucker chipped in 10 points and a team-high seven assists.
After trailing 34–25 at halftime, Georgia State opened the second half on a relentless run, tying the game at 64–64 before pulling away with a barrage of three-pointers over the final eight minutes. The Panthers closed the contest on a 25–7 surge to secure the win.
Georgia State finished the afternoon shooting 49.2% from the field and 56.7% from three, while holding Coastal Carolina to 39.3% shooting overall. The Panthers also recorded 18 assists on 29 made field goals and scored 30 bench points.
The victory improves Georgia State to 5–11 overall, and 2–2 in Sun Belt Conference play.
