Men's Tennis Opens 2026 Spring Season with a Doubleheader Sweep

ROME, GA. - Georgia State Men's Tennis opened their 2026 campaign with a pair of victories over NAIA opponent Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, winning 5-2 and 7-0 on Friday.

Match 1 - Georgia State 5, Abraham Baldwin 2

The Panthers opened the day by winning two of their three doubles matches. Arthur Attrill and Gabriele Datei took an 8-6 win in the tiebreaker to secure their first win of the year, while Gustav Andersson Sota Minami secured the team point with a 6-2 victory over their counterparts.

In the singles matches, Datei took the victory in two sets with identical 6-3 victories on line one. Attrill swept his opponent on line four and Aleksandar Andrin did the same on line five. The freshman Andersson had the most dominant victory of the first match, dropping just two points in his sweep of Abraham Baldwin's Milan Volbert.

Match 2 - Georgia State 7, Abraham Baldwin 0

Georgia State opened up a dominant second match victory by winning all three of their doubles matches handily. Cem Atlamis and Aryan Jit Singh won their first match as a pairing by a score of 6-2. Attrill and Datei improved to 2-0 in doubles matches with a 6-2 victory of their own. Andersson and Andrin closed out the doubles sweep by shutting down their opponents, 6-0. 

Playing on the first line, Atlamis needed a tiebreaker to secure his first set victory, but won the second set with ease, 6-2. Attrill was pushed to a third set, but brought home the point for his second singles victory of the day. Singh, Andersson, Andrin, and Vander Auwera each won their singles matches in straight sets to secure the 7-0 team sweep.
