ATLANTA – The Georgia State men's soccer team is set for their fourth season in the Sun Belt Conference as Head Coach Brett Surrency announced the 2025 slate.
Surrency enters his 16th season at the helm of the Panthers squad, looking to add to his three NCAA tournament appearances and one Sun Belt championship title for Georgia State.
The Panthers open their schedule hosting three exhibition games against Clayton State (Aug. 9), Presbyterian (Aug. 12) and NCAA qualifier Clemson (Aug. 16). This will be the second straight season that the GSU kick starts the season facing Clayton State. All exhibition matches are scheduled for 7:00 p.m. kickoffs.
Following the preseason, Georgia State embarks on a four-game road swing to open regular season play. The Panthers travel to Spartanburg, S.C., to take on USC-Upstate in their season opener on Aug. 21, followed by trips to UNC-Asheville (Aug. 26) and Winthrop (Aug. 30). They conclude the stretch in Macon on Sept. 3 with a matchup against in-state opponent Mercer.
Georgia State returns to Atlanta to face Lipscomb on Sept. 8. The Panthers will remain at home to host UAB on Sept. 15 before hitting the road again. Georgia State looks to stay undefeated against the Bisons and Blazers on home turf.
The beginning of Sun Belt play is marked for Sept. 19 when Georgia State heads to the neighboring state to face South Carolina in Columbia, S.C. The rest of the road matches include Marshall (Oct. 4), Jacksonville (Oct. 14), Coastal Carolina (Oct. 22) and Kentucky (Oct. 31).
The Panthers will defend their turf against Wofford (Sept. 23), Old Dominion (Sept. 28), James Madison (Oct. 10), West Virginia (Oct. 18), UCF (Oct. 26) and in-state rival Georgia Southern (Nov. 4).
The Sun Belt Conference Tournament begins Nov. 9 and concludes with the championship on Nov. 11. The top eight teams will advance to the championship tournament.
The Sun Belt continues to be a force in the NCAA with two teams closing the 2024 season in the top 25. Marshall reached their second title match over the last four years, landing them second in the NCAA. West Virginia entered the tournament with an automatic bid after winning their first ever Sun Belt Championship.
