ATLANTA --The Georgia State Panthers rallied to score one in the seventh inning and walked it off on sophomore Jordan Rayner's solo home run off of senior Jackie Albrecht to pick up the 3-2 win over the North Dakota Fighting Hawks Sunday.
Sophomore Makayla Stephens (2-4) picked up the victory out of the bullpen for Georgia State (8-17). The right-hander went three shutout innings without giving up a hit, allowing no walks and striking out six. Senior Sydney Boulware also made an impact in the circle for the Panthers, starting the ballgame and throwing four innings, giving up two runs, one earned, on five hits, with four walks and eight strikeouts.
In the batter's box, the Panthers were paced by senior Chloe Middlebrooks, who went 1-for-3 on the day with a triple, a walk and two RBI. Rayner put together a noteworthy day at the plate as well, going 1-for-4 with a home run and an RBI. Junior Ashton Schroyer also contributed for Georgia State, putting together two hits in three trips to the plate while adding a double.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Panthers put runs on the scoreboard first, starting the scoring in the second inning. Middlebrooks' triple off of Albrecht plated two for Georgia State.
North Dakota then rallied to tie the ballgame at 2-2 before Georgia State walked it off in the bottom of the seventh on Rayner's leadoff home run off of Albrecht.
