MONROE, Louisiana --The Georgia State Panthers brought a 3-2 lead into the seventh inning, but could not hold on and fell 4-3 to the UL Monroe Warhawks Saturday.
Sophomore Makayla Stephens (2-5) took the loss in the circle for Georgia State (8-20, ). The right-hander went 6.1 innings, giving up two runs, both of them earned, on five hits, allowing one walk and striking out seven.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Panthers were trailing 2-0 in the fifth inning when they first put runs on the board. Georgia State scored three runs in the frame, highlighted by a two-run single off the bat of junior Maia Mumpfield. The Panthers were unable to hold the lead, as UL Monroe scored two times over the remaining two innings to grab the 4-3 win.
