ATLANTA --The Georgia State Panthers were not able to score a run against Rutgers pitcher freshman Ella Harrison on Sunday and were shut out 8-0 by the Scarlet Knights.
Senior Kate Kastelic (2-3) started and took the loss in the circle for Georgia State (7-17). Sophomore Makayla Stephens was a bright spot out of the bullpen, going 3.2 innings, surrendering three runs, two earned, on four hits, walking none and striking out eight.
At the plate, the Panthers were paced by junior Maia Mumpfield, who went 1-for-2 on the day.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Georgia State did not advance a runner past second base in the game. The Panthers went 0-for-1 with runners in scoring position, last placing a runner as far as second in the fourth, when sophomore Jordan Rayner made it into scoring position with two outs.
GAME NOTES
» Stephens fanned eight Scarlet Knights hitters.
» Georgia State pitchers faced 24 Rutgers hitters in the game, allowing three ground balls and three fly balls while striking out nine.
