Middlebrooks Strings Together 3 Hits in Georgia State's Loss to Appalachian State

ATLANTA-- Senior Chloe Middlebrooks collected three hits, but the Georgia State Panthers fell to the Appalachian State Mountaineers 5-2 Thursday.

Senior Kate Kastelic (2-5) came out of the bullpen for Georgia State (11-34, ) and took the loss. Senior Sydney Boulware was a bright spot for the Panthers, starting the ballgame and throwing four innings, giving up one run on one hit, with four walks and five strikeouts.

In addition to her three hits, Middlebrooks had a double and an RBI to lead the Panthers. Sophomore Payton OConnor compiled a noteworthy performance at the dish as well, going 2-for-3 with a double. Sophomore Bella Morton also chipped in for Georgia State, putting together one hit in three trips to the plate while adding an RBI.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Panthers got on the scoreboard first, starting in the second inning. Georgia State scored twice, with one run coming across on Middlebrooks' single. The Panthers were unable to hold the lead, as Appalachian State scored five times over the remaining five innings to grab the 5-2 win.

» Georgia State's highest scoring inning was the second, when it pushed two runs across.
» The Panthers out-hit the Mountaineers at a 9-7 clip.
