STATESBORO, Ga. --The Georgia State Panthers had a tough showing on Saturday, falling to the Georgia Southern Eagles 8-3 despite the efforts of junior Maia Mumpfield, who went 1-for-4 with an RBI.
Senior Sydney Boulware (3-8) started and took the loss in the circle for Georgia State (10-25, 2-6).
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 1-0, the Panthers first put runs on the board in the third inning. Mumpfield drove in two runs for Georgia State with a single, that scored sophomore Bella Morton and senior Chloe Middlebrooks.
The Eagles then rallied to score four runs and take a 5-2 lead before the Panthers got back on the board in the fourth. Georgia State scored once on an RBI single off the bat of senior Kiki Edwards, which tightened the Eagles lead to 5-3. The Panthers were unable to get any closer, as Georgia Southern added three runs to their tally on the way to an 8-3 final.
