STATESBORO, GA --The Georgia State men's basketball team shot 53.3 percent from three-point range, but fell to the Georgia Southern Eagles 76-75 on the road Friday.
The Panthers (13-18, 8-10) had five players score in double figures, led by Cesare Edwards, who had 21 points, seven rebounds and two blocks. Zarique Nutter tacked on 14 points and two steals off of the bench and Nick McMullen chipped in as well with 12 points and nine rebounds.

How It Happened
After falling behind 21-20, Georgia State went on a 7-0 run with 9:02 left in the first half, culminating in a bucket from Jelani Hamilton, to take a 27-21 lead. The Panthers then lost some of that lead, but still entered halftime with a 37-34 advantage. Georgia State took advantage of six offensive rebounds to score eight second chance points out of 37 total in the period
Georgia Southern proceeded to take a 71-65 lead before Georgia State went on a 6-0 run, finished off by Edwards' three, to even the score at 71 all with 48 seconds to go in the contest. The Panthers could not turn their rally into a victory, as the Eagles outscored them 5-4 the rest of the way to hand Georgia State the 76-75 loss. Georgia State took care of business in the paint, recording 20 of its 38 points in the lane.
