HARRISONBURG, VA -- Georgia State fell 63-83 to James Madison on Tuesday, Feb. 20, at Atlantic Union Bank Center. Despite a strong first-half effort that saw the Panthers trail by just four at the break, James Madison pulled away in the second half. Cesare Edwards led Georgia State with 14 points and seven rebounds, while Malachi Brown contributed 12 points, going 6-for-7 from the free-throw line. Zarique Nutter also added 12 points off the bench.
The Panthers shot 38% from the field and struggled from three-point range, hitting just 15.4% (2-of-13) from beyond the arc. James Madison capitalized on Georgia State's turnovers, converting them into 12 points while also outscoring the Panthers in the paint 32-30. The Dukes pulled away in the second half behind 10 made three-pointers and a 47.5% overall shooting performance.
