CORAL GABLES, Fla. — The Georgia State women's basketball team (4-6, 0-0 SBC) came up short on the road Sunday, falling 99-46 to the Miami Hurricanes (6-3, 0-0 ACC) inside Watsco Center.
Crystal Henderson paced the Panthers with 10 points, four assists, and three steals. Kaleigh Addie added five points, while Grace Lanier chipped in four off the bench.
Defensively, Georgia State was active in passing lanes, forcing 14 Miami turnovers while surrendering just 10 of its own. The Panthers converted those takeaways into five points, with Henderson's three steals leading the effort.
How It Happened
Georgia State struggled out of the gate, falling behind 27-12 at the end of the first quarter.
The Panthers continued to lose ground in the second quarter and faced a 46-20 halftime deficit.
The Canes continued to increase its lead after halftime, building a 75-27 advantage before Georgia State went on a 5-0 run to trim its deficit to 75-32 with 1:24 to go in the third. Miami countered and stretched its lead to 80-33 heading into the fourth. Georgia State knocked down two three-pointers in the quarter to score six of its 13 total points.
Miami kept widening its lead in the fourth, constructing a 91-33 advantage before Georgia State went on a 6-0 run to shrink the deficit to 91-39 with 6:27 to go in the contest. Miami closed out the game with a 99-46 victory. Georgia State found a lift from its bench in the final period, as non-starters accounted for seven of the team's 13 points.
