MIAMI, Fla. – The Georgia State women's basketball team (4-5, 0-0 SBC) wraps up its two-day Florida swing with a matchup against the Miami Hurricanes (5-3, 0-0 ACC). The Panthers and the Canes are set to tip off on Sunday, Dec. 7, at 2 p.m. inside the Watsco Center.
SERIES HISTORY
Georgia State trails the all-time series against Miami, with the Canes holding a 5-3 advantage across eight meetings. Miami took control over the history, claiming the last three wins in the series. This game will break the stalemate in Miami as the series sits at 2-2. The most recent meeting came on November 10, 2006, when Miami secured a 68-60 victory.
BETWEEN THE LINES
The Miami Hurricanes enter their upcoming matchup looking to regain early-season momentum after opening the year with five straight wins before dropping their last two contests to Ohio State and Kentucky. Miami has shown strong offensive consistency, posting double figures in every quarter this season, including seven quarters with 20 or more points. With the loss of all five starters from the 2024-25 campaign, Miami's lineup at the Watsco Center features a dramatically reshaped roster. The Hurricanes retained only two players from last season, sophomore Ahnay Adams and redshirt freshman Simone Pelish. To replenish the roster, Miami added 12 newcomers, including seven transfers from the portal and five freshmen, forming a group that ESPNW ranked as the No. 10 recruiting class in the nation.
CRYSTAL CLEAR
Junior leader Crystal Henderson was named to the 2025-26 Preseason All-Sun Belt Second Team following a stellar 2024-25 campaign. Henderson started all 33 games for the Panthers, leading the team in assists (128, 3.9 pg), steals (79, 2.4 pg), minutes played (1,163, 35.2 pg) and assist-to-turnover ratio (1.42). She finished second on the team in scoring with 379 points (11.5 ppg) and recorded 20 double-digit games, including four 20+ point performances. Henderson led the Sun Belt in minutes per game, ranked second in the conference in steals and steals per game, and finished fourth in assists and assist-to-turnover ratio.
Henderson was also named 2023-24 Sun Belt Freshman of the Year after leading all Sun Belt freshmen in scoring, steals and assists, and finishing top five in assists among all freshmen in the NCAA during the 2023-24 season. Henderson's honors marked the third Freshman of the Year honors in program history, and the first since the 2016-17 season.
SUN BELT DOMINANCE
The Panthers continue to showcase their Sun Belt dominance through their nonconference stretch of the 2025-26 campaign. Georgia State leads the conference in free throws made per game (16.0) and sits third in steals per game (13.7), while forcing an impressive 22.78 turnovers per contest, landing them fourth in the SBC. The Panthers also rank fifth in scoring offense, averaging 74.8 points per game. Individually, Crystal Henderson remains one of the conference's most dynamic guards, ranking second in total points (152), total assists (40), and field goals made (56), while standing third in both points per game (16.9) and assists per game (4.4). Morgan Robinson-Nwagwu adds to GSU's efficiency, leading the Sun Belt in total free throws made (39) and ranking fifth in free-throw percentage at 81.3%.
