MONROE, La. — The Georgia State volleyball team (18-9, 9-7) needed just three sets to roll past the UL Monroe Warhawks (10-20, SBC 1-15) on Friday afternoon, closing out the regular season in dominant fashion at Fant-Ewing Coliseum. With the sweep, the Panthers remain undefeated in November and extend their win streak to seven straight.
Georgia State's attack was powered by a standout performance from Courtney Smith, who recorded 15 kills while hitting .414. Jayden Eaker followed with an explosive 14 kills on a blistering .684 hitting percentage. Defensively, two players reached double figures in digs as Marta Lazzarin posted 11 and Shanelle Martinez added 10.
How It Happened
SET 1 | Georgia State opened the match with a decisive 25-18 win, powered by an efficient offensive rhythm. The Panthers hit .333 with 17 kills in the opening frame and closed the set on a surge, extending their lead to its widest margin to seal the stanza.
SET 2 | The Panthers carried that momentum into a tightly contested second set, edging ULM 25-23. After five lead changes, Georgia State took control for good at 19-18 and never looked back. The offense added an extra spark with four aces in the frame to secure the two-set advantage.
SET 3 | Georgia State dominated from the first point in the third set to complete the sweep 25-15. The Panthers never trailed, building a double-digit lead at 23–13 and finishing the match with 15 kills in the stanza. At the net, the front row was sharp, turning away six ULM attacks to close out the sweep in commanding fashion.
