Men's Soccer Wraps Up Non-Conference Play on the Road Before Hosting West Virginia

ATLANTA — The Panthers will hit the road on Tuesday to take on Jacksonville at 6:00 p.m. before making their return to Atlanta and their return to conference play when they host West Virginia on Saturday night at 7:00 p.m.

GETTING OVER .500

Men's Soccer has put together a very balanced record, winning exactly as many games as they have lost in their conference and non-conference slates. The coming week provides their last opportunity to move above .500 in non-conference play, as well as a pivotal match against Sun Belt foe West Virginia.

The key to the Panthers' offense has been sophomore forward Samir Djeha. The Montreal native has taken over as the team's leading goal scorer courtesy of a stretch of four goals scored in their last four games. Djeha provided the team's lone goal against Wofford and did the same against James Madison, helping narrowly avoid defeat in a pair of 1-1 draws. Djeha enjoyed a career day against Old Dominion, recording a pair of goals and a pair of assists to lift his squad to their first Sun Belt victory. His six goals and 16 points both rank among the top five in the conference.

The Panthers' defense will look to bounce back from a stretch of six goals allowed in their last three games. Prior to that stretch, the team had let up just six goals in their previous six games, ranking them among the best defenses in the Sun Belt.

Georgia State @ Jacksonville: October 14 | 6:00 p.m. | Jacksonville, F.L.

The Dolphins enter the matchup with Georgia State seeking their first victory since August 31. The team has compiled a 2-6-3 record on the season, with their lone Division I victory coming against UT-Rio Grande Valley. Against the lone common opponent between the two, Jacksonville suffered a 3-2 defeat at the hands of UAB, while the Panthers defeated the Blazers 1-0. Jacksonville and Georgia State have faced off five times, but not since 2017. The Panthers hold a slight advantage in the all-time series, with three wins and two losses.
