ATLANTA - The Panthers let up an early goal to visiting James Madison on Friday night, but bounced back quickly to knot the game at one all. The two sides would hold strong on defense in the second half, giving Georgia State their fifth draw of the season and their second in conference play.
How It Happened
The Dukes have struggled on offense to start the season, but wasted no time making their mark on the scoreboard in Atlanta. A Manuel Lolas score in the sixth minute put the Panthers on their heels early.
Needing a score to even things up, Georgia State turned to their hottest hand in
Samir Djeha. The squad's leading point scorer battled through heavy contact in front of the net and fired a shot past the JMU keeper for his team-best sixth goal of the season. The score marked his fourth in his last four games.
After each letting up a score early, both defenses put on the clamps in the second half. Each side wagered just four shots after intermission and neither was able to find the back of the net, securing the 1-1 final score.
