SAN MARCOS, TX --Cesare Edwards scored 27 points and Toneari Lane added 25, but the Georgia State men's basketball team fell to the Texas State Bobcats 94-80 on the road Wednesday.
The Panthers (7-11, 3-3) had three players score in double figures, led by Edwards, who had 27 points and four blocks. Lane added 25 points and four assists and Malachi Brown chipped in as well with 10 points and four assists.
Georgia State shared the ball well in Wednesday's game, racking up 16 assists on 29 made field goals. Brown's four assists paced the Panthers.
Georgia State did a great job disrupting Texas State shots in the contest, coming away with eight blocks. Edwards' four rejections led the way individually for the Panthers.
How It Happened
Georgia State struggled out of the gate, falling behind 46-35 heading into halftime.
Texas State kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing a 91-67 advantage before Georgia State went on a 9-0 run, finished off by Jelani Hamilton's three, to shrink the deficit to 91-76 with 1:44 to go in the contest. The Panthers kept their comeback going, but Texas State managed to hold on for the 94-80 win. Georgia State shot well from three-point range in the half, hitting eight shots from deep to score 24 of its 45 points.
