CARROLLTON, GA --The Georgia State volleyball team needed only three sets (25-13, 25-19, 25-15) to knock off the West Georgia Wolves and clinch the tournament sweep Saturday on the road at The Coliseum.
The non-conference win improved Georgia State's overall record to 4-2 on the season. This is the best six-game start for the Panthers since the 2011 season.Â
The Panthers offense was paced by Keionna MacKey, who finished with 12 kills on the day while accumulating a hitting percentage of .333, and by Alessia Cappai, who had 12 while hitting .385. Defensively, had two players reach double figures in digs as Kaleigh Fitzgerald had 12 and Livy Kowalkowski had 10.

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Panthers jumped out to an early lead, methodically winning the first set 25-13. Georgia State grabbed the advantage for good at 11-10 in a set that had just one lead change before the Panthers took over the lead. Georgia State also supplemented their offense with three aces in the opening set.
SET 2 | After their win in the first set, Georgia State put themselves on the cusp of a sweep with a 25-19 victory in set number two. The Panthers took the set with the help of a strong showing on the attacking side. Georgia State registered a .382 attack percentage with 15 kills in the set win. The Panthers ended on a strong note, stretching their lead to its largest point in the set to finish out the stanza.
SET 3 | Georgia State finished off the match in a 3-0 sweep after grabbing set three. The Panthers took control of the set early when the score was 5-4 and held the lead the rest of the way to win 25-15. Georgia State ended on a strong note, opening up its biggest lead of the stanza, 10 points, to close out the set, totaling 17 kills .
The Panthers are back in action Sept. 13-14 on the road at the Tiger Invitational, hosted by Tennessee State.Â
