ATLANTA, Georgia -- Georgia State fell 35-12 to Georgia Tech on the road Saturday night.
" I'm encouraged by how hard our [athletes] played tonight," head coach Dell McGee said. "We have to clean up few details at the goal line, and limit the big plays, but I know our athletes will learn from this experience."
The Yellow Jackets improved to 2-0 on the season while the Panthers dropped to 0-1.
Christian Veilleux led Georgia State's passing attack with 210 yards through the air, tossing one touchdown without throwing an interception.
Freddie Brock paced the Panthers rushing attack by accumulating 61 yards over the course of the game, averaging 6.1 yards per carry. Sy'veon Wilkerson also added 43 yards on the ground, averaging 5.4 yards per carry.
Dorian Fleming reeled in four catches for 68 yards and one score.
Kenyatta Watson paced the Georgia State defensive effort, totaling one interception. Kevin Swint had 0.5 TFL in the loss.
Both teams forced one turnover in Saturday's contest, with Georgia State turning that takeaway into six points.
How It Happened
After Georgia Tech opened a 7-0 lead, Georgia State kicked a field goal with 3:49 left in the second quarter to narrow the margin to 7-3. After the Yellow Jackets scored to increase its lead to 28-3, Dorian Flemming scored the first touchdown of the season for the Panthers to narrow the deficit and make it a 28-6 game.
Georgia State narrowed Georgia Tech's lead with a touchdown with 3:42 left in the third quarter to make it 28-12.Georgia Tech tacked on seven more points to finish off the scoring.
