Panthers Rack up 12 Blocks in 3-0 Loss to South Dakota State

ATLANTA, GA --The Georgia State volleyball team racked up 12 blocks in a 3-0 (24-26, 19-25, 17-25) loss to the South Dakota State Jackrabbits Friday at home at GSU Sports Arena.

The non-conference loss moved Georgia State to 0-2 on the season.

Keionna MacKey finished with 10 kills on the day to lead the Panthers offense. got 10 digs from Livy Kowalkowski along with five blocks from Kayla Broom to lead them defensively.

» Kaleigh Fitzgerald had a team-high one ace in the loss.
» The Georgia State front row did a great job defensively, picking up 12 blocks in the match.
» Keionna MacKey had a team-high 10 kills for Georgia State.

How It Happened

SET 1 | The Panthers couldn't hang on in a back-and-forth first set, losing 26-24 in a game that featured seven lead changes and was tied 14 times. Neither team led by more than four points in the match.

SET 2 | Georgia State lost set two 25-19, digging a 2-0 hole in the match. Georgia State trailed by as many as eight points as South Dakota State grabbed the advantage for good at 4-3 in a set that was knotted up just once before the Jackrabbits took over the lead.

SET 3 | Georgia State could not win the third set and was swept by South Dakota State. The Panthers lost a tough set 25-17. Georgia State trailed by as many as eight points as South Dakota State grabbed the advantage for good at 8-7 in a set that was knotted up four times before the Jackrabbits took over the lead.

Georgia State will be back at the GSU Sports Arena on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. to take on Florida A&M.
