ATLANTA-- Preseason All-Sun Belt honoree Gavin Pringle was named to the 2024 Paycom Jim Thorpe Award Preseason Watch List, the Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame (OSHOF) and Jim Thorpe Association released Tuesday.
 
This list includes 42 of the nation's best defensive backs, representing nine conferences and one independent university. The preseason watch list is selected by a screening committee whose members compile a list of up to 50 players based on previous performance in NCAA Division I college football and preseason All-America lists.
 
 
Senior Pringle, who earned All-Conference honors in his first season at Georgia State in 2023, is one of four Sun Belt athletes to be named to the prestigious Jim Thorpe Watch List. 
 
In 2023, Pringle quickly became a dominating force on the Panthers' defense. The cornerback totaled four interceptions on the season to lead the Panthers and tie for the Sun Belt lead in interceptions, one behind the GSU single-season record. He finished his first season at Georgia State as a Third team All-Sun Belt Conference selection, his fourth all-conference honors. 
 
The three finalists for the 2024 Paycom Jim Thorpe Award will be announced Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2024.
