Georgia State senior
Mahina Leveau is the Sun Belt Conference Women's Golfer of the Week after a strong performance at the Georgia State Invitational.
The native of Beauvais, France, finished as runner-up while leading GSU to a second-place showing in the team standings in the Panthers' annual home event, which was shortened to 36 holes by severe weather.
Leveau shot 73-74 in the first two rounds for a 3-over 147, four strokes behind individual leader Rebecca Brink of Memphis, who shot 68-75 (-1) to capture individual medalist honors. Leveau played her first four holes of Round 3 at 1-under to pull within one shot of the lead when play ended.Â
Her second-place finish equals the best of her career in a stroke-play event; she also finished tied for second in the 2021 Georgia State Invitational as a freshman.
Georgia State's second-place finish is its best showing of the season under first-year head coach
Ket Vanderpool.
Leveau is Georgia State's second Sun Belt Golfer of the Week this season, following Pariya Sanapanawat, who was honored after her victory in the Diamante Invitational.
The Panthers will return to the course April 1-2 for the Colonel Invitational at Eastern Kentucky, Georgia State's final tuneup before the Sun Belt Conference Championship begins April 15 in Fairhope, Ala.
