Stanescu Scores Third Win Against Penn

ATLANTA - Georgia State (2-6) lost 4-2 to Penn (9-3) in a tightly contested match on Sunday afternoon. Graduate student Andreea Stanescu saw victory in both of her matches, earning her third singles and third doubles win of the season.

The Panthers posted a strong doubles performance with victories at the first and third courts. Alba Retortillo teamed with Stanescu at the top doubles court, posting a dominant 6-1 decision. After seeing defeat on court No. 2, Maria Paredes and Francesca Miglio earned a 6-4 win on court No. 3 to clinch the first point of the match.

Stanescu followed up the doubles victory with a dominant 6-1, 6-4 singles win on court No. 4, giving the Panthers a 2-0 lead.

Despite close competition on all remaining courts, the Panthers dropped matches on courts No. 2, No. 3, No. 5, and No. 6. Sophomore Paredes competed at the top singles court and went unfinished tied at one set all.
