The Panthers started the match with a 1-0 advantage after taking the doubles point. On court No. 3,
Maria Paredes paired with
Francesca Miglio to defeat their opponents in a dominant 6-1 victory. Following the victory, Retortillo and Stanescu clinched the doubles point for the Panthers with a 6-2 victory on court No. 1.
Entering singles play with an advantage, the Panthers kept the victories coming as freshman
Sara Radojevic posted a quick 6-0, 6-1 decision on court No. 6. Retortillo followed up with a 6-2, 6-1 win on court No. 2, giving the Panthers a 3-0 advantage on the match.
Despite dropping a match on court No. 3, Junior
Luciana Galvez stepped closed the match for the Panthers with a 6-3, 6-1 clinching victory.
The two remaining courts played out their matches, leading Stanescu to a 3-6, 6-4, 10-5 victory on court No. 4. The Panthers then dropped a match on court No. 1, making the overall match score 5-2.
The Panthers will travel to Chicago to face UIC on March 2 and Chicago State on March 3.
