STARKVILLE, MS --The Georgia State men's basketball team came up short in a 66-101 loss to the Mississippi State Bulldogs on the road Friday.
The Panthers (1-1) had four players score in double figures, led by Toneari Lane, who had 15 points. Cesare Edwards added 13 points and six rebounds, and Zarique Nutter chipped in as well with 11 points.
Led by Clash Peters' four offensive rebounds, Georgia State did a great job crashing the offensive glass, pulling down 18 boards that resulted in 16 second-chance points.
How It Happened
Georgia State struggled out of the gate, falling behind 47-25 heading into halftime.
Georgia State narrowed its deficit to 49-28 before going on a 9-0 run, finished off by Malachi Brown's three, to shrink the deficit to 49-37 with 16:34 to go in the contest. Mississippi State responded and outscored the Panthers, ending the game with a final score of 101-66.
