Georgia State Travels to Statesboro for Rivalry Matchup

STATESBORO, GA. - After dropping two matches against Appalachian State at home, Georgia State travels to Statesboro to take on Georgia Southern. The Panthers will face the Eagles Friday, Nov. 8 at 6:00 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 9 at 2:00 p.m. 

Georgia State has won four of their past six conference matches. The Panthers rank first in conference in team kills and team assists, and second in team service aces and digs. 

Georgia State is one win away from winningest season since 2009. 

Georgia State and Georgia Southern are meeting for the twenty-fifth time in program history. Georgia State has taken nine out of the twenty-four matches against Georgia Southern. The Panthers fell to Georgia Southern in their last meeting 0-3 on Oct. 2023.

 Keionna Mackey leads the Panthers in kills, recording 281 on the season. Mackey has been a key addition to the Panthers' lineup, averaging 3.02 kills per set. She is currently ranked 120 in the nation and third in conference for total points. Mackey is ranked third in the conference for total aces, and fourteenth in kills per set.

Graduate transfer Kaleigh Fitzgerald has served as the Panthers' libero, registering 355 digs on the season so far. Fitzgerald ranks fifth in the conference for total digs and ninth in digs per set, averaging 4.13. 

Next up, Georgia State is back at home to take on ULM on Thursday, Nov. 14 at 6:00 p.m and Friday, Nov. 15 at 6:00 p.m.
