FOLEY, AL --Myllena Torquetti, Keionna MacKey and Alessia Cappai all notched double-doubles to propel the Georgia State volleyball team to a 3-2 victory (25-27, 25-21, 25-23, 16-25, 15-13) against the Troy Trojans to move on to the Sun Belt Conference quarterfinals.
The Panthers were led by double-doubles from Torquetti, who had 10 kills and 10 blocks, MacKey, who had 11 kills and 10 digs, and Cappai, who had 12 kills and 10 digs. Peyton Gash also added 15 kills to help the attack. Kaleigh Fitzgerald chipped in for with 24 digs to go with five blocks from Cappai.

SET 1 | The Panthers dropped set one 27-25 despite a strong showing on the attacking end. Georgia State put together a .324 attack percentage with 15 kills in the set loss.
SET 2 | Georgia State rallied from a first-set loss to take the second set 25-21, evening the match at one set apiece. The Panthers grabbed the advantage for good at 22-21 in a set that showcased three lead changes before the Panthers took over in the second half of the stanza. The Panthers racked up 17 kills over the course of the set. Georgia State's front row had a solid defensive performance, blocking four Troy attacks in the stanza.
SET 3 | Georgia State won again in set three to make it a 2-1 match. The Panthers took a 1-0 lead and never looked back in the set to earn a 25-23 victory. Georgia State opened up as much as a six point lead at 20-14 before closing out the set. The Georgia State offense also got a boost from three aces in the stanza. Georgia State's front row had a solid defensive performance, blocking five Troy attacks in the stanza.
SET 4 | Georgia State couldn't keep the win streak going, as the Trojans forced a fifth set with a 25-16 fourth-set win. The Panthers trailed by as many as nine points as Troy grabbed the advantage for good at 2-1 and Georgia State wasn't able to recover in a set that was tied up just once before the Trojans took over.
SET 5 | Georgia State took a two sets to one lead and held off Troy's comeback attempt, which included a fourth set victory, to win the fifth set 15-13 and the match 3-2. The Panthers took the lead for good at 13-12 in a set that showcased four lead changes before the Panthers took over the lead. got a solid defensive performance from a front row that blocked four Troy attacks in the stanza.
The Panthers will face App State next tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. E.T. in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament quarterfinals.Â
